I was involved with a young man who insisted that we get "secondary" lovers for ourselves. In a similar vein, I was also guilty of such behavior. I'm sure there are many who can identify with the pathway that she chose to take. from Queens County, New York City,nyThis young lady is a tragic figure. Lyrics licensed and provided by LyricFind You're still the same old girl you used to be My oh my, you sure know how to arrange thingsĪin't it funny how your new life didn't change things? She's so far gone she feels just like a fool She thinks about a boy she knew in schoolĭid she get tired or did she just get lazy? She draws the shade and hangs her head to cry She gets up and pours herself a strong oneĪnd stares out at the stars up in the sky There ain't now way to hide your lyin' eyes She pulls away and leaves him with a smile She swears that soon she'll be comin' back forever She rushes to his arms they fall together 'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel She drives on through the night anticipating With fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal On the other side of town a boy is waiting There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes She is headed for the cheatin' side of town To comfort an old friend who's feelin' downīut he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin' So she tells him she must go out for the evening I guess every form of refuge has its priceĪnd it breaks her heart to think her love is only Late at night a big old house gets lonely It’s because of the lyrics and the story is plays. She'll dress up all in lace and go in style So the question is why is lyin eyes close to NKIT in the categories I mentioned. I think new kid in town has almost assuredly better music (at least more interesting, fun etc) and it has more vocal harmonies and energy.
They are far more complex.Lying eyes and New kid in town are close to equal in terms of how important they are to the bands history, legacy, chart placement etc. In what way? NKIT is a superior song, yes, but how the lyrics are inferior to LE totally escapes me. I don't know what you mean by the lyrics of NKIT being 'inferior' to LE. Any more, again, would have detracted from the story. There are just enough harmonies to support Glenn's superb lead vocal. As for the harmonies being mixed 'low' I completely disagree. That almost happens in Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue, wonderful though that is.
I don't know how LE could have been any more uptempo without the story getting lost.
But it's still a great songI don't know how LE could have been any more uptempo without the story getting lost. I think it could have been an incredible song with a more up tempo ( like they do live) and some more guitar fills. The harmonies are great on the chorus but there aren't many throughout the song and they are mixed kinda low. To me I'll always love New Kid In Town more than lyin eyes, despite vastly inferior lyrics, because I found LE to be musically boring. It's interesting to see the guy talk about the music in the song.
